✈️ Getting to Kuala Lumpur

Fly into:
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
IATA Code: KUL
? Located about 45 km south of central Kuala Lumpur.

KLIA is the main international gateway to Malaysia, serving direct flights from all over the world including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and parts of North America.

Tip: Most budget airlines (AirAsia, Scoot, etc.) use KLIA Terminal 2 (KLIA2), while full-service carriers operate from KLIA Terminal 1.


Visa Information

Malaysia offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry to citizens of over 90 countries, including:

  • EU/EEA countries (90 days)

  • USA, Canada, UK, Australia (90 days)

  • Most ASEAN countries (30–90 days)

You can check your country’s requirements at the official Malaysian eVisa portal.

✅ Most travelers do not need to apply in advance. BUT DO CHECK. 

Also your passport should be valid for 6 Months or more!


Getting from KLIA to the City (Bukit Bintang / KL Sentral area)

1. KLIA Ekspres (Airport Train) – Fastest

  • Non-stop to KL Sentral in 28 minutes

  • Trains every 15–20 mins

  • Cost: RM 55 (~€11 / $12) one-way

  • From KL Sentral, you can take Grab or MRT/LRT to your hotel

Airport Taxi or Grab

  • Takes 45–60 mins depending on traffic

  • Cost: RM 70–100 (~€15–20 / $16–22)

  • Grab is widely used and often cheaper than taxis


Airport Bus (Budget Option)

  • Several operators to KL Sentral

  • Takes 1 hour+

  • Cost: RM 12–15 (~€2.50 / $3)

  • Tickets at KLIA arrival hall


? Getting Around Kuala Lumpur

  • The MRT, LRT, and Monorail systems connect key areas like Bukit Bintang, KLCC, Chow Kit, and KL Sentral.

  • Grab is the go-to ride-hailing app (reliable and cheap).

  • Walking is doable in central areas like Bukit Bintang
